The fuel temperature sensor is integrated within the fuel filter assembly. The fuel temperature sensor is a variable resistor that measures the temperature of the fuel. The engine control module (ECM) supplies 5 V to the signal circuit and supplies an ground to the low reference circuit. The following table illustrates the difference between temperature, resistance, and voltage:

The fuel temperature and Inlet Air Temperature (IAT) 1 are more than 100°C (180°F) of each other at start-up.

The fuel temperature and IAT 1 are more than 10°C (18°F) of each other at start-up.
or
The IAT 1 has dropped more than 2.5°C (4.5°F) after running more than 6 min above 24 km/h (15 MPH).
The ECM detects that the fuel temperature sensor voltage is less than 0.127 V for 0.5 s.
The ECM detects that the fuel temperature sensor voltage is greater than 4.9 V for 0.5 s.
DTCs P0181 00, P0182 00, and P0183 00 are Type B DTCs.
DTCs P0181 00, P0182 00, and P0183 00 are Type B DTCs.
• | A short to a separate 5 V source may set a DTC P0183 00. |
• | A skewed sensor may result in poor driveability concerns. |
