The position of the swirl flaps is controlled by the engine control module (ECM). The ECM controls the inlet manifold runner control solenoid valve to create a swirl in the combustion chamber to get a homogeneous diesel air mixture. The ECM will vary the inlet manifold runner control solenoid valve referring to the barometric pressure and the mass air flow. The ECM uses a pulse width modulation on the control circuit to control the inlet manifold runner control solenoid valve.
Engine is running
The ECM detects an open circuit for more than 1 s.
The ECM detects the inlet manifold tuning solenoid valve control circuit is shorted to ground for more than 1 s.
The ECM detects an overtemperature of the intake manifold tuning solenoid valve control output driver.
The ECM detects the inlet manifold tuning solenoid valve control circuit is shorted to voltage for more than 1 s.
The ECM detects a short to ground or an open circuit for more than 5 s.
The ECM detects a short to voltage for more than 5 s.
DTCs P2008, P2009, P200A, P2010, P201 and P2017 are Type A DTCs.

⇒ | If the test lamp is OFF, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
