DTC Descriptor

DTC P2299 00: Brake Pedal Position - Accelerator Pedal Position Not Plausible

Circuit/System Description

The brake pedal position is a variable input to the controller based on the brake pedal being applied or released. The accelerator pedal position is a variable input to the controller based on the accelerator pedal being applied or released

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The ignition is ON or the engine is running.
    • The DTC runs continue once the above conditions are met.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The engine control module (ECM) detects that the accelerator pedal and the brake were actuated simultaneously, or the accelerator pedal was actuated before the brake.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P2299 5A is a Type B DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P2299 5A is a Type B DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Verify that DTC P2122, P2123, P2127, P2128 or P2138 are not set.
  2. If any of the DTCs are set, refer to DTC P2122, P2123, P2127, P2128, or P2138 : LNP or LNQ for further diagnosis.
  3. Verify correct brake lamp operation.
  4. If the brake lamps do not operate correctly refer to Stop Lamps Malfunction for further diagnosis.
  5. DTC P2299 00 is an informational DTC. If there are other Engine Controls DTCs, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle for further diagnosis.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
