The glass breakage sensors are located on the rear side windows. The rear window defogger grid is also used as a glass breakage sensor. The body control module (BCM) monitors the glass breakage sensor signal circuit. If the rear side glass or the rear window is broken, the glass breakage sensor signal circuit will open and the BCM will no longer see ground on the circuit.

If greater than 10 Ω
2.1. | Disconnect the harness connector at the E18 Rear Defogger Grid. |
2.2. | Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 1 X2 and ground. |
If greater than 5 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
If less than 5 Ω
2.3. | Disconnect the harness connector at the B159L Glass Breakage Sensor - Left. |
2.4. | Test for less than 5 Ω between the control circuit terminal 1 X1 at the E18 Rear Defogger Grid and the signal circuit terminal 1 X1 at the B159L Glass Breakage Sensor - Left. |
If greater than 5 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
If less than 5 Ω
2.5. | Connect the harness connector at the E18 Rear Defogger Grid. |
2.6. | Test for less than 10 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 1 X1 at the B159L Glass Breakage Sensor - Left and ground. |
If greater than 10 Ω, replace the E18 Rear Defogger Grid.
If less than 10 Ω
2.7. | Test for less than 5 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 1 X2 at the B159L Glass Breakage Sensor - Left and the signal circuit terminal 1 X1 at the B159R Glass Breakage Sensor - Right. |
If greater than 5 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
If less than 5 Ω
2.8. | Connect the harness connector at the B159L Glass Breakage Sensor - Left. |
