Exhaust Rear Auxiliary Silencer Replacement

CH-6614 Chain - Type Pipe Cutter .
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.
Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Exhaust Flexible Pipe Bending Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the 2 exhaust rear silencer hanger insulators (3) from the exhaust rear silencer .
- Remove the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler hanger insulators bracket bolt (1) from the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler bracket (2).
- Remove the exhaust rear muffler hanger insulators bracket (2) from the exhaust rear muffler end pipe bracket (2).
- Place the exhaust system on to the rear axle.
- Note the dent marks (1) around the exhaust pipe.
Note: A second technician is required.
- Cut the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler (2) from the exhaust rear muffler with the CH-6614 cutter (3) at the marked positions (1).
- Remove the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler (2).
Installation Procedure
- In case of reuse of the exhaust parts, check the exhaust pipes at the separating sets for the following conditions:
• | roundness of the exhaust pipe, any deformation in the range of the double-clamp must be eliminated |
• | burrs inside and outside the exhaust pipe at the cutting edge, use a file to eliminate |
• | rust at the exhaust pipe outside, use sandpaper to eliminate |
Note: A second technician is required.
- Install the exhaust rear silencer (6) to the 2 exhaust rear silencer hanger insulators (5).
- Install the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler (4).
- Install the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler bracket (3) to the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler (4).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler bracket bolt (2) to the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler bracket (3) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe clamp (1) and loosely tighten.
- Position the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler (4).
- Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp (1) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Lower and unsupport the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
