SEATS
Caution : Disconnect the negative battery cable before removing or installing any electrical unit or when a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with exposed electrical terminals. Disconnecting this cable will help prevent personal injury and damage to the vehicle. The ignition must also be in LOCK unless otherwise noted.

DIAGNOSIS
Power Driver Seat
Caution : If the driver seat motor is powered directly from a battery, personal injury could be caused by sparking and sudden heating of the terminals if the wires from the battery are touched together. Use a fused jumper wire, and use terminal test adapters if available. If terminal test adapters are not available, use insulating tape to reduce the possibility of touching the jumpers together.
Diagnostic Aids
If resistance is measured between the terminals of the motor connectors, the frontward/backward motor resistance is approximately equal to 1 Ω, the front height motor resistance is approximately equal to 5 Ω, and the rear height motor resistance is approximately equal to 9 Ω.
Power Driver Seat Does Not Work

- Carefully connect a fused jumper wire between the test battery positive terminal 4 on the motor side of the power driver seat switch. The two terminals are close together, and the motor may have ashort circuit, so a fused jumper wire is recommended. Do not allow the wires from the battery to touch each other. If the motor is okay and it is not at the end of its travel, the power driver seat should move.
- To enable the motor to operate in the opposite direction, carefully reverse the battery connections.

Front Seat

Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the plastic caps and the bolts securing the rear portion of the front seat to the floor.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the seat.
Installation Procedure
- Install the seat.
- Connect the electrical connectors.
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the bolts into the rear portion of the front seat.
Tighten
Tighten the front seat-to-floor bolts to 45 N•m (33 lb-ft).
- Install the plastic caps.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Front Seatback
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to "Front Seats" in this section.
- Remove the back panel.
- Remove the each seat trim.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolts and the seatback.
Installation Procedure
- Install the seatback onto the seat cushion.
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the front seatback bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the front seatback bolts to 45 N•m (33 lb-ft).
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Install the seat trims to its original position.
- Install the back panel onto the seat.
- Install the front seat in the vehicle. Refer to "Front Seats"in this section.
Front Seat Cushion
(Manual Driver Seat Shown, Power Driver Seat Similar)
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to "Front Seats"in this section.
- Remove the seat trims.
- Remove the seat cushion bolts.
- Remove the cushion from the seat track.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cushion onto the seat track.
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the seat cushion with the bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the front seat cushion bolts to 12 N•m (106 lb-in).
- Install the seat trims.
- Install the front seat in the vehicle. Refer to "Front Seats"in this section.
Front Seat Track
(Manual Driver Seat Shown, Power Driver Seat Similar)
Removal Procedure
- Remove the seatback. Refer to "Front Seatback" in this section.
- Remove the seat trim. Refer to "Front Seat Trim" in this section.
- Remove the seat cushion bolts.
- Remove the seat track from the seat cushion.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cushion onto the seat track.
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the seat track to the seat cushion with the seat cushion bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the front seat cushion bolts to 12 N•m (9 lb-ft).
- Install the seat trim. Refer to "Front Seat Trim"in this section.
- Install the seatback. Refer to "Front Seatback" in this section.
Power Driver Seat Slide Assembly
Removal Procedure
- Remove the driver seat. Refer to "Front Seat"in this section.
- Remove the front seat cushion. Refer to "Front Seat Cushion" in this section.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts the screws, and the slide assembly.
Installation Procedure
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the slide assembly with the bolts and the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the slide assembly bolts to 25 N•m (18 lb-ft).
Tighten the slide assembly screws to 10 N•m (89 lb-in).
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the front seat cushion. Refer to "Front Seat Cushion" in this section.
- Install the driver seat. Refer to "Front Seat"in this section.
Seat Recliner Lever

Removal Procedure
- Remove the seat recliner lever.
Installation Procedure

- Install the seat recliner lever.
Lumbar Support Knob
Removal Procedure
- Remove the lumbar support knob.

Front Seat Trim

Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to "Front Seats" in this section.
- Remove the screw and the recliner lever.
- Remove the screws and the front seat trim.
Installation Procedure
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the front seat trim with the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the front seat trim screws to 12 N•m (106 lb-in).
- Install the recliner lever.
- Install the front seat in the vehicle. Refer to "Front Seats" in this section.
Head Restraint
Removal Procedure
- Press in the hand into the restraint adjust button and remove the head restraint from the seatback.
- Insert the head back side of the seat and press the sleeve.
- Remove the head restraint.
Installation Procedure
- Install the guide sleeves into the seatback and press them down to engage the guide sleeve retaining latches.
- Install the front seat-back cover.
- Install the head restraint into the guide sleeves.
Rear Seat
Removal Procedure
- Remove the bolts securing the rear portion of the rear seat to the floor.
- Remove the seat.
Installation Procedure
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the rear seat cushion by inserting the metal loops into the rear retaining brackets and pressing the front of the seat cushion down.
- Install the bolts into the rear portion of the rear seat.
Tighten
Tighten the rear seat-to-floor bolts to 45 N•m (33 lb-ft).
Rear Seat Trim
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to "Rear Seat" in this section.
- Remove the screws and the rear seat trim.
Installation Procedure
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the rear seat trim with the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the rear seat trim screws to 12 N•m (9 lb-ft).
- Install the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to "Rear Seat" in this section.
Rear Seatback
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to "Rear Seat" in this section.
- Remove the rear seat trim. Refer to "Rear Seat Trim" in this section.
- Remove the bolts both sides of the rear seat.
- Remove the rear seatback.
Installation Procedure
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the rear seatback with the bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the rear seatback bolts to 12 N•m (9 lb-ft).
- Install the rear seat trim. Refer to "Rear Seat Trim" in this section.
- Install the rear seat in the vehicle. Refer to "Rear Seat" in this section.
3rd Rear Seat
Removal Procedure
- Remove the bolts securing the rear portion of the 3rd rear seat to the floor.
- Remove the 3rd rear seat.
Installation Procedure
- Install the 3rd rear seat.

- Install the bolts into the rear portion of the 3rd rear seat.
Tighten
Tighten the rear seat-to-floor bolts to 45 N•m (33 lb-ft).
Heating Mat Switch
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the screws and the rear console deposit box.
- Remove the rear console cover and disconnect the connector.
- Remove the screws and heating mat switch.
Installation Procedure
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Install the heating mat switch with the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the heating mat switch screws to 2 N•m (18 lb-in).
- Connect the connector and install the rear console cover.
- Install the rear console deposit box with the screws.
Tighten
Tighten the rear console deposit box screws to 2 N•m (18 lb-in).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Heating Mat
(Seat Cushion Shown, Seatback Similar)
Caution : If the seat cushion or seatback foam is damaged when you remove the heater element, replace the seat cushion or seatback in order to prevent personal injury.
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the airbag and heating mat wiring harness.
- Remove the seatback and/or cushion. Refer to "Front Seatback", "Front Seat Cushion" in this section.
- Remove the seat cover from the seatback and/or the cushion.
- Peel the heating mat off of the cushion.
Installation Procedure
- Install the heating mat.
- Install the seat cover onto the seatback and/or the cushion.
- Install the seatback and/or the seat cushion. Refer to "Front Seatback", "Front Seat Cushion" in this section.
- Connect the airbag and heating mat wiring harness.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONAND SYSTEM OPERATION
Seats
Do not attempt to change the designed seat position by altering the designed seat adjuster-to-floor pan anchor provisions or the seat adjuster-to-seat frame anchor provisions. Changing the seat position could affect the performance of the seat system.
This vehicle is equipped with front seats with adjustable head restraints, and a three-passenger rear bench seat with an optional split folding rear seat. The front seats also have a recline, a height, and a lumbar adjustment. A power driver seat is optional. Seat cushions and seatbacks have formed foam pads, which fit the contours of the full panel seatback frame assembly and the designed contour of the seat cushion frame.
