Starter Replacement - 2.0L Diesel LLW

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
2. Remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .



3. Remove the positive cable nut (1) from starter motor (2).
4. Remove the positive cable (5).
5. Remove the lower starter motor bolt (4).
6. Remove the negative cable (3).



7. Remove the starter motor cable nut (1) from starter motor (2).
8. Remove the starter motor cable (3).



9. Remove the upper starter motor bolt (1).
10. Remove the starter motor (2).

1. Install the starter motor (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the upper starter motor bolt (1) and tighten to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).



3. Install the starter motor cable (3).
4. Install the starter motor cable nut (1) at the starter motor (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).



5. Install the negative cable (3).
6. Install the lower starter motor bolt (4) and tighten to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).
7. Install the positive cable (5).
8. Install the positive cable nut (1) at starter motor (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
9. Install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
10. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
