Exhaust System Description - 2.0L Diesel LLW

Pre-Catalyst

1820487

The catalyst converters are emission control devices added to the exhaust system to reduce pollutions from the exhaust pipes.

It has coating only platinum, which simultaneously lower the level of HC and CO. But NOx is able to be reduced from engine control system (example: cooled EGR system, etc.).

Diesel Particulate Filter

2028367

The function of the diesel particulate filter is to reduce fine dust. In addition to the gaseous pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrous oxide, diesel engines also emit particles during the combustion process. These particles mostly consist of small carbon nuclei surrounded by adsorbed hydrocarbons. To burn off the carbon is it necessary to heat the DPF to more than 600° C, the particulate filter is regenerated within a few minutes by burning off the collected carbon particulates. It is made of stainless steel to protect the particulate Filter from corrosion. It is mounted on the middle of underbody.

Rear Muffler

2028368

The rear silencer is to reduce broad band engine exhaust noise. It is comprised of a series of perforated tubes and baffles to break up the sound waves and reflect them. The adopted dual silencer for this vehicle improves the efficiency to reduce flow noise.

It is made of Stainless Steel to protect the rear silencer from corrosion.

It is mounted behind the rear wheel.
