The body control module monitors the voltage input of the bonnet ajar switch signal circuit.
The BCM continuously monitors for this DTC
The BCM detects that the Bonnet Ajar Switch signal circuit is shorted to battery.
The BCM detects that the Bonnet Ajar Switch signal circuit is shorted to ground.
The BCM detects that the Bonnet Ajar Switch signal circuit is open.
Prevent an engine start.
• | A current DTC will clear when the conditions for setting are no longer present. |
• | A history DTC will clear after 40 malfunction free ignition cycles. |

Control Module References for scan tool information
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BCM Bonnet Ajar Switch parameter. With the bonnet open, the Bonnet Ajar Switch parameter should read open. With the bonnet closed, the Bonnet Ajar Switch parameter should read closed.
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module. |
⇒ | If not infinite, replace the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch. |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
