Bonnet Ajar Indicator/Message Malfunction

The body control module monitors the voltage input of the bonnet ajar switch signal circuit.

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BCM Bonnet Position parameter. With the bonnet open, the Bonnet Position parameter should read open. With the bonnet closed, the Bonnet Position parameter should read closed.

Circuit/System Testing

Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch.
Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal C and ground.

⇒	If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

Ignition ON, test for greater 11 V between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.

⇒	If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.

If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch.

Component Testing

Static Test

Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch.
With the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch open position, test for infinite resistance between the ground terminal C and the signal terminal B.

⇒	If not infinite, replace the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch.

With the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch closed position, test for less than 5 Ω between the ground terminal C and the signal terminal B.

⇒	If greater than the specified range, replace the B55 Bonnet Ajar Switch.

Repair Instructions
