Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Cooler Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Open bonnet.
  2. Remove engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  3. Remove air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement
  4. Raise the vehicle full height. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  5. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  6. Lower the vehicle full height.

  7. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe bracket bolt (1).
  8. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe clamp (2).
  9. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe (3) from the turbocharger.

  10. Remove the wiring harness plug (2).
  11. Remove 4 wiring harness clips (1) from the bracket (3).

  12. Remove the 2 nuts (2) from the wiring harness bracket (1).
  13. Remove the wiring harness bracket (1).
  14. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Pipe Removal
  15. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe Removal
  16. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Removal

  17. Disconnect the 2 EGR cooler coolant hoses.
  18. Remove the EGR cooler bolt (2).
  19. Remove the EGR cooler (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the EGR cooler (1).

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the EGR valve cooler bolt (2) and tighten to 20N·m (15 lb ft).
  3. Connect the 2 EGR cooler coolant hoses.

  4. Install the wiring harness bracket (1).
  5. Install the 2 wiring harness bracket nuts (2) and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
  6. Install the exhaust gas recirculation pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe Installation
  7. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Installation
  8. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Pipe Installation

  9. Install 4 wiring harness clips (1) to the bracket (3).
  10. Install the wiring harness plug (2).

  11. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe (3) to the turbocharger.
  12. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe clamp (2).
  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

    14. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  14. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 5 N·m (45 lb in).
  15. Install air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement
  16. Install engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  17. Close bonnet.
