DTC Descriptor

DTC P2458 59: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Time Protection Time-Out

Circuit/System Description

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that the engine control module (ECM) has determined that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Time exceeds a calibrated threshold.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The DTC runs during the DPF regeneration process.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM determines that the DPF regeneration process time exceeds a calibrated amount.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P2458 59 is a Type C DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P2458 59 is a Type C DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Verify that no other DTCs are set.
  2. If any other DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle for further diagnosis.
  3. Ignition OFF, inspect the hose/pipes to the B154 Diesel Particulate Filter Exhaust Differential Pressure Sensor for leaks, or restrictions.
  4. If a condition is found, repair as necessary.
  5. Inspect the hose/pipes of the intake air system for leaks, or restrictions.
  6. If a condition is found, repair as necessary.
  7. Inspect the hose/pipes of the exhaust system for leaks, or restrictions.
  8. If a condition is found, repair as necessary.
  9. Perform the DPF Service Regeneration. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Cleaning .
  10. Verify the DTC does not reset.
  11. If the DTC resets, replace the DPF filter.
