Radiator Replacement — LDE, LXV LUW, L2W, 2H0 - MT

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the bonnet
  2. Disconnect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  4. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  5. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  6. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator. Refer to  Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  7. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the radiator. Refer to  Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  10. Remove the air conditioning evaporator hose (3) from condenser.
  11. Disconnect the air conditioning refrigerant pressure sensor wiring harness plug (2).
  12. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug (1).
  13. Lower the vehicle.

  15. Remove the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose nut (1).
  16. Remove the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose (2).
  17. Unclip the engine coolant fan shroud from the radiator and hang it aside (with cable straps for example).
  18. Secure the radiator assembly with 2 straps.

  20. Remove the 4 lower radiator bracket bolts (1).
  21. Remove the 2 lower radiator brackets (2).

  23. Remove the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose (1) from the air conditioning compressor and condenser stud (2).
  24. 19.1. Loosen the 2 straps.
    19.2. Remove the radiator assembly (3) to the left and then downwards.

    Note: Do not remove the engine cooling fan shroud (1).

  25. Remove the radiator assembly (2).
  26. If there are any air baffles that complicate the removal procedure, then remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement .

  28. Unclip the condenser (2) from the radiator (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Clip in the condenser (2) to the radiator (1).

  3. Install the radiator assembly (2).

  5. Install the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose (1) to the air conditioning compressor and condenser stud (2).
  6. 3.1. Install the radiator assembly (3) to the radiator upwards and then to the right.
    3.2. Secure the radiator assembly with 2 straps.

  7. Install the 2 lower radiator brackets (2)
  8. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Install the 4 lower radiator bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
  10. Clip in the engine coolant fan shroud to the radiator.

  12. Install the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose (2). Use a NEW seal ring.
  13. Install the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose nut (1) and tighten to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  14. Install the air conditioning evaporator hose (3) to the condenser. Use a NEW seal ring.
  15. Tighten the air conditioning evaporator hose nut to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).
  16. Connect the air conditioning refrigerant pressure sensor wiring harness plug (2).
  17. Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug (1).
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Install the radiator inlet hose to the radiator. Refer to  Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  20. Install the radiator outlet hose to the radiator. Refer to  Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  21. Top up the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  22. If the headlamp was removed. Refer to Headlamp Replacement .
  23. Top up the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  24. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  25. Connect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  26. Close the bonnet
