Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement — 1.4L LUH and LUJ
Removal Procedure
Drain the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
:

Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation pipe from the turbocharger. Refer to
Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement
.
Remove the radiator outlet hose from the engine coolant thermostat housing. Refer to
Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement
:
2.0L Diesel LNP
→
LDD, LUH, and LUJ
→
1.6L LXT,L2W
→
2.0L Diesel LLW
→
LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW
.
Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness connector.
Remove the engine oil cooler outlet hose clamp (2).
Remove the engine oil cooler outlet hose (3) from the engine coolant thermostat housing.
Remove the 3 engine coolant thermostat housing bolts (4).
Remove the engine coolant thermostat housing (5) and the seal ring (1).
Installation Procedure
Clean the sealing surfaces.
Install the engine coolant thermostat housing (5) along with a NEW seal ring (1).
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the 3 engine coolant thermostat housing bolts (4) and tighten to
8 N·m(71 lb in)
.
Install the engine oil cooler outlet hose (3) to the engine coolant thermostat housing.
Install the engine oil cooler outlet hose clamp (2).
Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness connector.
Install the radiator outlet hose to the engine coolant thermostat housing. Refer to
Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement

1.6L LXT,L2W
→
2.0L Diesel LLW
→
LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW

Connect the positive crankcase ventilation pipe to the turbocharger. Refer to
Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement
.
Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement

.
Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
