Circuit/System Description

The brake servo unit vacuum sensor measures the vacuum in the brake servo assembly. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies a 5 V reference and a low reference circuit to the brake servo vacuum sensor. The vacuum sensor supplies a voltage signal in relation to the pressure in the brake servo to the EBCM.

Ignition ON

Conditions for Setting the DTC

C1100 01

The EBCM detected a short-circuit to voltage on the vacuum sensor 5 V reference circuit.

C1100 02

The EBCM detected a short-circuit to ground on the vacuum sensor 5 V reference circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The brake warning indicator turns ON.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • A current DTC clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
    • The EBCM will turn OFF the indicator in the next ignition cycle.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Inspect the brake servo vacuum system for damage, leakage and correct installation.
  2. If damage, leakage or incorrect installation is diagnosed, repair or replace the component.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B19B Brake Servo Vacuum Sensor.
  4. Test for less than 5 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
  5. If greater than the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
  6. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  7. If greater than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
    If less than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
  8. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
  9. Ignition ON, test for less than 0.3 V between the signal circuit terminal 1 at the B19B Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor harness connector and ground.
  10. If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  11. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  12. If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  13. Test for less than 5 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 1 at the B19B Brake Servo Unit Vacuum Sensor harness connector and terminal 22 at the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module harness connector.
  14. If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  15. If all circuits test normal, replace the B19B Brake Servo Vacuum Sensor and verify the DTC does not reset. If the DTC resets, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
