Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Replacement

Special Tools

    • EN-470-B Angle meter
    • EN-50432 Adaptor - Flywheel Fixing

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the automatic transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 1.6L LXT, L2W, LDE and 1.8L 2H0 → 2.0L Diesel LLW .

  2. Fix the automatic transmission flexplate (1) using the EN-50432 fixing tool (2).

  3. Remove and DISCARD the automatic transmission plate retaining bolts (2).
  4. Remove the automatic transmission plate (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the automatic transmission flexplate (1).
  2. Install NEW automatic transmission flexplate retaining bolts (2). Do not tighten the bolts.

  3. Fix the automatic transmission flexplate (1) using the EN-50432 fixing tool (2).

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Tighten the NEW automatic transmission flexplate retaining bolts in 2 steps to:
    5. 4.1. First Step: Tighten the bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
    4.2. Second Step: Tighten the bolts an additional45° . Use the EN-470-B angle meter .
  5. Remove EN-50432 fixing tool.
  6. Install the automatic transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 1.6L LXT, L2W, LDE and 1.8L 2H0 → 2.0L Diesel LLW .
