Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement - 2.0L Diesel LNP

Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Do not bend the exhaust flex pipe more than 10 degrees in any direction. Bending of more than 10 degrees or twisting in a range of ±0.5 degrees will damage the exhaust flex decoupler.

1. Disconnect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
3. Remove the heated oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement .
4. Remove the exhaust temperature sensor position 2. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
5. Remove the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement .
6. Remove the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - front. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Front .
7. Disconnect exhaust temperature sensor wiring harness plug position 3. Remove clip from charge air control vacuum hose.



8. Remove both exhaust pressure differential sensor hose clips (1).
9. Remove both exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) from the diesel particulate filter pipes.
10. Remove the 2 exhaust pressure sensor bracket bolts.
11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
12. Remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
13. Remove the exhaust front pipe from the exhaust particulate filter flange. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDE,LLU,LXT,LXV,L2W,2H0 .



14. Remove the 3 diesel particulate filter bolts (4) and the nut (5) from the diesel particulate filter brackets.
15. Lower the vehicle.
16. Remove the exhaust particulate filter clamp (1).
17. Remove the exhaust particulate filter (3) and the gasket (2).
18. Remove the exhaust temperature sensor position 3. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 3 .
19. Remove the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - rear. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Rear .

1. Install the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - rear. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Rear .
2. Install the exhaust temperature sensor position 3. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 3 .



3. Install the exhaust particulate filter (3) with the diesel particulate filter clamp (1) and a NEW gasket (2).
4. Pre-install the exhaust particulate filter clamp.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

5. Install the 2 upper exhaust particulate filter bolts (4). Tighten the 2 upper exhaust particulate filter bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
6. Raise the vehicle.
7. Install the lower exhaust particulate filter bolts (4) and tighten the exhaust particulate filter bolt to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
8. Install the exhaust particulate filter nut (5) and tighten the exhaust particulate filter nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
9. Install the exhaust front pipe to the exhaust particulate filter flange. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDE,LLU,LXT,LXV,L2W,2H0 .
10. Install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Tighten the exhaust particulate filter clamp to10 N·m (84 lb in).
13. Install the 2 exhaust pressure sensor bracket bolts and tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).



14. Install both exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) to the exhaust particulate filter pipes.
15. Install both exhaust pressure differential sensor hose clips (1).
16. Connect the exhaust temperature sensor wiring harness plug position 3. Install clip to charge air control vacuum hose.
17. Install the exhaust temperature sensor position 2. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
18. Install the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - front. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Front .
19. Install the heated oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement .
20. Install the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement .
21. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
22. Connect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
