Engine Front Cover with Oil Pump Replacement

1. Open the bonnet.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection : without Start/Stop System .
3. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP  → 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, LUW and LFH .
4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
5. Remove the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement : LNP  → 1.6L LDE and 1.8L 2H0 .
6. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement : 1.8L 2H0  → 2.0L Diesel LNP .
7. Remove the timing belt rear cover. Refer to Timing Belt Rear Cover Replacement : 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, LUW and LFH .
8. Remove the sump. Refer to Sump Replacement .
9. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the water pump. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : 1.8L 2H0  → 2.0L Diesel LNP .



10. Remove the engine oil cooler inlet pipe bolt (4).
11. Push the engine oil cooler inlet pipe (1) into the engine oil cooler housing (2).
12. Remove the 2 engine oil cooler outlet pipe bolts (5) from the water pump.
13. Push the engine oil cooler outlet pipe (3) into the engine oil cooler housing (2).



14. Remove the 8 engine front cover bolts (2, 3).
15. Remove the engine front cover (4).
16. Remove the engine front cover seal (1).

1. Clean sealing surface.



2. Install a NEW engine front cover seal (1).
3. Install the engine front cover (4).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

4. Install the 8 engine front cover bolts (2, 3) and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).



5. Push the engine oil cooler outlet pipe (3) to the water pump (6).
6. Install the engine oil cooler outlet pipe bolts (5) and tighten to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
7. Push the engine oil cooler inlet pipe (1) into the water pump (6).
8. Install the engine oil cooler inlet pipe bolt (4) and tighten to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
9. Install the radiator outlet hose to the water pump. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : 1.8L 2H0  → 2.0L Diesel LNP .
10. Install the oil pan. Refer to Sump Replacement .
11. Install the timing belt rear cover. Refer to Timing Belt Rear Cover Replacement : 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, LUW and LFH .
12. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement : 1.8L 2H0  → 2.0L Diesel LNP .
13. Install the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement : LNP  → 1.6L LDE and 1.8L 2H0 .
14. Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP  → 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, LUW and LFH .
15. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection : without Start/Stop System .
16. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
17. Close the bonnet.
