Timing Chain Damper Replacement

EN-49073 Pin - Timing Chain Tensioner

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .

  2. 2512538

    Note: Avoid that the timing chain skips.

  3. Tension the timing chain tensioner. Fix the tensioner with the EN-49073 pin (1).
  4. Remove the timing chain damper bolt (3).
  5. Remove the timing chain damper (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply safety agent to the timing chain damper bolt (3).
  2. Note: Avoid that the timing chain skips.

  3. Install the timing chain damper (2).
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the timing chain damper bolt (3) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  6. Remove the EN-49073 tensioner (1).

  8. Rotate the engine 2 revolutions clockwise.
  9. Set crankshaft 90° beyond TDC of combustion stroke of cylinder 1 and inspect for the following conditions:
  10. • The arrow on the inlet camshaft gear (1) must match with the arrow on the exhaust camshaft gear (2).
    • The notch in the camshaft sprocket (4) must match with mark on the engine block (3).
  11. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
