Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Set the park brake and chock the wheels.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .

  3. Position the transmission manual gear lever into the park position.
  4. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) from the transmission range selector lever.
  5. Press the retainer clip tabs inward in order to release the transmission range selector lever cable (2) from the cable bracket.
  6. Remove the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .

  7. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (2) from the shift lever pin (3).
  8. Release the transmission range selector lever cable retainer (1) and remove the transmission range selector cable from the transmission control lever base (4).

  9. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable bracket nuts (1) from the underbody.

  10. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable grommet nuts (1).
  11. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable grommet (2).
  12. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Verify that the transmission manual gear lever is in the park position.
  2. Install the transmission range selector lever cable to the vehicle.
  3. Install the transmission range selector lever cable grommet (2).

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the transmission range selector lever cable grommet nuts (1) and tighten to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Install the transmission range selector lever cable bracket nuts (1) to the underbody and tighten to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Install the transmission range selector lever cable to the transmission control lever base. Insure the cable retainer (1) is fully secured to the transmission control lever base (4).
  7. Connect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (2) to the shift lever pin (3).
  8. Install the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .

  9. Install the transmission range selector lever cable (2) to the cable bracket.
  10. Connect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) to the transmission range selector lever.
  11. Adjust the automatic transmission range selector lever cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
  12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
