Oil Pump Cleaning and Inspection

Cleaning Procedure

1. Remove any old thread sealant, gasket material or sealant.
2. Clean all the following areas with solvent:

•	Sealing surfaces

•	Oil passages

•	Inner and outer drive adapters

3. Clean all threaded and through holes with solvent.

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses and Compressed Air Warning in the Preface section.

4. Dry the oil pump housing with compressed air.

Measuring Procedure

Install the oil pump outer and inner drive adapter.

Radial Clearance Inspection

Check radial clearance between oil pump housing (1) and outer drive adapter (2) with feeler gauge (3). Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications for permissible clearance.

Axial Clearance Inspection

Check axial clearance between contact surface of the oil pump housing and the upper surface of drive adapters with a straightedge (2) and a feeler gauge (1). Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications for permissible clearance.
