Transfer Case Fluid Replacement

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2. Remove the drain plug (1).
3. Remove the fill plug (2)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




1. Install the drain plug (1) and tighten to 39 N·m (29 lb ft).
2. Fill the transfer case with synthetic hypoid 75W-90 to the bottom of the fill plug hole, when the vehicle is on a level surface.
3. Install the fill plug (2) and tighten to 39 N·m (29 lb ft).
4. Lower the vehicle.
