Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the interior tailgate trim panel. Refer to Tailgate Trim Panel Replacement : Long Body  → Short Body .
2. Disconnect the electrical connector for the number plate lamps.
3. Disengage the electrical harness grommet from the outer tailgate panel.

Rear Tailgate Upper Applique Nut (Qty: 6)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
4 N·m (35 lb in)

Electrical Harness Grommet

Retainer (Qty: 3)

Tip
Carefully release the upper retainers, replace as needed.

Rear Tailgate Applique Panel

Procedure

Transfer parts as needed to the new applique panel.
