Battery Positive and Negative Cable Replacement - LE5

Removal Procedure

  1. Record all of the radio station presets.

  3. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Open the fuse block cover.
  5. Remove the battery negative cable nut (1) from the fuse block.
  6. Remove the battery positive cable nut (2) from the fuse block.
  7. Remove the battery positive terminal (3) from the battery.

  9. Remove the battery positive cable nut (1) from the starter solenoid.
  10. Remove the battery positive cable retainers (2).

  12. Remove the battery negative cable bolt (2) from the engine block.
  13. Note: Observe how the battery positive and negative cable was routed within the engine compartment.

  14. Remove the battery positive and negative cable.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Install the battery positive cable terminal nut (1)and the alternator terminal to the starter solenoid. Tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Install the battery negative cable bolt (1) to the engine block and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the battery positive cable nut (1) to the engine fuse block and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the negative battery cable terminal and nut (2) to the fuse block and tighten to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  9. Install battery positive cable (3) and nut (2) to the fuse block and tighten to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
  10. Install the battery positive post terminal (1) and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in)

  12. Install the battery negative post terminal (1) and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in)
  13. Reset the radio channel presets.
