Preliminary Procedures

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling

Tip
Loosen the drain bolt at the bottom of the water pump and drain the coolant from the engine block.

2. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor .
3. Remove the following from the thermostat housing:

•	Radiator outlet hose.

•	Water pump inlet hose.

•	Heater inlet hose.

•	Heater outlet hose.

4. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement : LE5

Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten
10 N·m (7 lb ft)

Seal

Tip
Replace with a NEW seal.
