Generator Replacement - LF1
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Reposition the positive battery cable boot at the alternator terminal.
- Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (1) from the alternator.
- Remove the positive battery cable nut (2) at the alternator.
- Remove the positive battery cable terminal (3) from the alternator.
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
- Remove the idler pulley bolt (1) and idler pulley (2). Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
- Remove the alternator bolts (3).
Note: When removing the alternator from the vehicle, it may be necessary to manoeuvre the alternator to remove it from the vehicle.
- Remove the alternator(4).
Installation Procedure
- Position the alternator (4) to the engine.
- Loosely install the alternator bolts (3).
- Install the idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Tighten the alternator bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
- Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the alternator.
- Install the positive battery cable terminal (3) to the alternator.
- Install the positive battery cable nut (2) at the alternator and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Position the positive battery cable boot at the alternator terminal.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
