Generator Replacement - LF1

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
2. Reposition the positive battery cable boot at the alternator terminal.
3. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (1) from the alternator.
4. Remove the positive battery cable nut (2) at the alternator.
5. Remove the positive battery cable terminal (3) from the alternator.
6. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .



7. Remove the idler pulley bolt (1) and idler pulley (2). Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
8. Remove the alternator bolts (3).

Note: When removing the alternator from the vehicle, it may be necessary to manoeuvre the alternator to remove it from the vehicle.

9. Remove the alternator(4).

1. Position the alternator (4) to the engine.
2. Loosely install the alternator bolts (3).
3. Install the idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

4. Tighten the alternator bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).



5. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
6. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the alternator.
7. Install the positive battery cable terminal (3) to the alternator.
8. Install the positive battery cable nut (2) at the alternator and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
9. Position the positive battery cable boot at the alternator terminal.
10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
