Primary Fuel Level Sensor Replacement

CH-48482 Fuel Tank Sensor Spanner

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Fold the rear seat.
  3. Lift up the carpet and the insulation.

  5. Remove the primary fuel level sensor access cover (1).

  7. Disconnect the primary fuel level sensor electrical connector (5).

  9. Using the CH-48482 fuel sensor spanner, remove the cam lock ring (1) by turning anticlockwise.

  11. Remove the primary fuel level sensor lock ring (1).
  12. Note: 

       • Use care when handling the primary/secondary fuel tank module to prevent damage and incorrect fuel level readings.
       • O-ring should not be contaminated by fuel.

  13. Remove the primary fuel level sensor assembly (2) and the O-ring from the fuel tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean all of the mating surfaces on the both fuel tank module and fuel tank.
  2. Note: 

       • Do not reuse the primary or secondary fuel tank module O-rings.
       • Be careful not to damage the fuel sender for the correct fuel levelling while removing the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank.

  3. Position the new O-ring and the primary fuel level sensor assembly into the fuel tank.

  5. Using the CH-48482 fuel sensor spanner, install the cam lock ring (1) by turning anticlockwise.

  7. Connect the fuel level sensor electrical connector (5).

  9. Install the fuel level sensor access cover (1).
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Fold the rear seat back to the original position.
