Engine Control Module Programming and Setup - 2.4L

The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.

ECM Replacement

If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:

  1. ECM Reprogramming--Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
  2. Crankshaft Position (CKP) Variation Learn for 2.2L or 2.4L engine only--Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn .
  3. Fuel Composition Diagnosis for 2.2L and 2.4L engines only
  4. Theft Deterrent Programming--Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Programming and Setup .
  5. Throttle Learn Procedure--Refer to Throttle/Idle Learn .

ECM Reprogramming

If the ECM needs to be reprogrammed, refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .

Setup for Component Replacement For 2.4L Engine Only

The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.

If any of the following components are replaced, a CKP Variation Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 2.2L or 2.4L.

    • Engine replacement
    • Any engine repair that disturbs the CKP sensor or it's relationship with the crankshaft reluctor wheel
    • CKP sensor

If the throttle body is replaced or a throttle body cleaning procedure is completed, the Throttle/Idle Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to Throttle/Idle Learn .
