Sump Cleaning and Inspection - LE5 or LE9

1. Clean the oil pan mating surface.
2. Clean the oil pan (1). Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits.
3. Inspect the threads for the engine oil drain plug.
4. Inspect the sump for cracking near the pan rail and the transmission mounting points.
5. Inspect the sump for cracking resulting from impact or flying road debris.

Note: The oil pan baffle and pickup screen are not removable from the oil pan.

6. Inspect the oil pan baffle and pickup screen.
7. Repair or replace the sump as necessary.
