Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement - LDV,LSF
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.
Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the drivetrain and suspension frame skid plate. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Skid Plate Replacement .
- Remove the exhaust front pipe nuts (1) from the oxidation catalytic converter.
- Remove the exhaust pipe mounting bolt (3) from the engine block and discard the gasket (2).
- Remove the exhaust muffler nuts (1) from the exhaust front pipe (3).
- Remove the exhaust muffler from the exhaust isolators and discard the gasket (2).
- Support the exhaust muffler.
- Remove the exhaust front pipe (1) from the engine cradle.
Installation Procedure
- Clean the exhaust front pipe mating surfaces.
- Install a NEW exhaust muffler gasket (2) to the exhaust front pipe (3).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the exhaust muffler to the exhaust front pipe (3) and tighten the nuts (1) to 17 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install a NEW gasket (2) to the oxidation catalytic converter.
- Install the exhaust front pipe to the oxidation catalytic converter and tighten the nuts (1) to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust front pipe mounting bolt (3) to the engine block and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the drivetrain and suspension frame skid plate. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Skid Plate Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
