Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection

1. Clean the oil pan (4). Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits.
2. Remove old seal material (1).
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug (3) and the oil pan drain plug seal (2).
4. Inspect the thread of the oil pan drain plug.
5. Inspect the oil pan for cracking near the pan rail and the transmission mounting points.
6. Inspect the oil pan for cracking resulting from impact or flying road debris.
7. Repair or replace the oil pan as necessary.
