1. Traction Control Switch Inoperative

Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) monitors the traction control switch. When the traction control switch is pressed for less than 5 s, the BCM will request the electronic brake control module (EBCM) via serial data to disable the traction control system. When the traction control switch is pressed for 5 s, the BCM will request the EBCM to disable the stability control system. The EBCM will request the instrument cluster via serial data to turn the traction control off Indicator and/or the stability control off indicator ON to notify the driver of the deactivation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • Ignition ON
    • Ignition voltage is greater than 8 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B2745 02

The BCM detects a short to ground on the signal circuit

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The BCM ignores the traction control switch signal input.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

A current DTC clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Verify, that during the bulb check, the Traction Control/Stability Control Active indicator, Traction Control Off indicator and the Stability Control Off indicator illuminate briefly.
  3. [ARW-LISTFAIL]
  4. If either indicator does not illuminate briefly

Refer to Traction Control/Stability Control Indicator Malfunction .

  5. [/ARW-LISTFAIL][ARW-LISTPASS]
  6. If the indicators do illuminate briefly

  7. [/ARW-LISTPASS]
  8. With a scan tool, verify the scan tool EBCM Traction and Stability Control Switch parameters change from NO to YES when pressing the S75 Traction Control Switch shortly and then for 5 s.
  9. [ARW-LISTFAIL]
  10. If either of the parameters does not change

    Refer to Circuit/System Testing below.

  11. [/ARW-LISTFAIL][ARW-LISTPASS]
  12. If both parameters change from NO to YES

  13. [/ARW-LISTPASS]
  14. Verification complete, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF. Disconnect the S75 Traction Control Switch harness connector.
  2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool BCM Traction Control Switch parameter is NO.
  3. [ARW-LISTFAIL]
  4. If parameter is not NO

  5. [/ARW-LISTFAIL]
2.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X2 at the K9 Body Control Module, ignition ON
2.2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit connector terminal 14 and ground.
    [ARW-LISTFAIL]
  6. If not infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.

  7. If infinite resistance, replace the K9 Body Control Module.

  8. [/ARW-LISTFAIL] [ARW-LISTPASS]
  9. If parameter is NO

  10. [/ARW-LISTPASS]
  11. Replace the S75 Traction Control Switch.

Component Testing

Static Test

  1. Test for more than 5 Ω between S75 Traction Control Switch terminal 2 and terminal 4 with the switch in the released position.
  2. [ARW-LISTFAIL]
  3. If less than 5 Ω

Replace the S75 Traction Control Switch.

  4. [/ARW-LISTFAIL][ARW-LISTPASS]
  5. If more than 5 Ω

  6. [/ARW-LISTPASS]
  7. Test for less than 5 Ω between S75 Traction Control Switch terminal 2 and terminal 4 with the switch pressed.
  8. [ARW-LISTFAIL]
  9. If greater than 5 Ω

Replace the S75 Traction Control Switch.

  10. [/ARW-LISTFAIL][ARW-LISTPASS]
  11. If less than 5 Ω

  12. [/ARW-LISTPASS]
  13. All OK.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
