Radiator Replacement — 1.4L LUH and LUJ - AT

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Replacement .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  3. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose and the radiator inlet hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement and Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  4. Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet pipe from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement .
  5. Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler pipe. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement .
  6. Use care and lay the transmission fluid cooler aside. Fix it in a suitable position so that the radiator is easily accessible.
  7. Unclip the engine coolant fan shroud from the radiator.

  9. Remove the 2 radiator upper bracket bolts (1) and the 2 radiator upper brackets (2).

  11. Remove the radiator (1) from the 2 lower brackets (2).
  12. Use care and rotate the radiator in order to gain more access for the removal.
  13. Use care and lift the radiator up and away from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Use care and install the radiator (1).
  2. Use care and rotate the radiator in order to get more access for the installation.
  3. Install the radiator (1) to the 2 lower brackets (2).

  5. Install the 2 radiator upper brackets (2).
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Install the 2 radiator upper bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
  8. Clip the engine coolant fan shroud to the radiator.
  9. Install the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler pipe. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement .
  10. Install the transmission fluid cooler inlet pipe to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement .
  11. Connect the radiator outlet hose and the radiator inlet hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement and Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  12. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  13. Install the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Replacement .
