Repeat the following steps until the DTC is set or all modules are connected.
  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Reconnect the other disconnected modules one at a time in the following order :
    • ECM or TCM
    • ABS Module
    • BCM

  4. Retrieve DTCs from the first connected module, in the previous step.
Does the scan tool display DTC U0001 as current?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the last module connected.
  3. Inspect for poor connections at CAN circuits of the suspected module. Refer to "Wiring Harness and Connector Inspection" in this section.

  • The battery positive voltage output circuits
  • The ignition voltage input circuits

  • The switched battery positive voltage circuits
  • The ground circuits
  • The high speed CAN circuits
  • The serial data circuit, if the module is BCM.

  4. Select Store Freeze Frame/Failure Records from the Diagnostic Trouble Codes Information menu.
  5. Store Freeze Frame/Failure Records.
  6. Select Clear DTC Information from the Diagnostic Trouble Codes Information menu.
  7. Clear DTC Information.
  8. Perform one vehicle drive cycle.
Does the SVS lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
  3. Check for an open or a short to ground in the wire between the TCM connector J1 terminal 17 and ECM connector J1 terminal 30 (LD9). (84 of connector J1 : LLW, 42 of connector J2 : LU1)
Is the problem found?

Check for an open or short to ground in the wire between the TCM connector J1, 7 and ECM connector J1 terminal 49. (83 of conector J1 : LLW, 55 of connector J2 : LU1)

  1. Change the unshielded twisted pair between TCM and ECM or repair the connector terminal as needed.
  2. Using the scan tool, clear the DTCs.
  3. Start the engine and idle at normal operating temperature.
  4. Operate the vehicle.

  1. Replace the TCM.
  2. Using the scan tool, clear the DTCs.
  3. Start the engine and idle at normal operating temperature.
  4. Operate the vehicle.
  5. Perform the reproducing test under user condition after confirming no DTC.

  1. Replace the ECM.
  2. Using the scan tool, clear the DTCs.
  3. Start the engine and idle at normal operating temperature.

Repair the wiring circuit for a short to ground or open.

Inspect the signal circuit for an open, short to voltage or short to ground between the up and down mode switch and BCM.
Is problem found?

Repair the signal circuit for an open , short to voltage or short to ground.
Go to Step 5

Inspect the circuit for an open, short to voltage or short to ground between the up and down mode switch and ground.
Is problem found?
-
Repair the circuit for an open , short to voltage or short to ground.
Go to Step 6

With the ignition ON, inspect the voltage for the output terminal of the up and down mode switch shifting the gear shift lever. Refer to Diagnostic Aids.
Is the measurement within the specified value?
-
Replace the BCM.
Replace the shift control lever assembly.
