Glow Plug Replacement

1. Open the bonnet.
2. Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .
3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 1.4L LUH and LUJ → 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, and LUW → 2.0L Diesel LLW .



4. Remove the 4 glow plug wiring harness plugs (1).



5. Remove the 4 glow plugs (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




1. Install the 4 glow plugs (1) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).



2. Install the 4 glow plug wiring harness plugs (1).
3. Install the engine lift bracket nut and tighten to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
4. Install the 3 glow plug heat shield bolts and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
5. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 1.4L LUH and LUJ → 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, and LUW → 2.0L Diesel LLW .
6. Install the turbocharger. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .
7. Close bonnet.
