The throttle body assembly contains 2 throttle position sensors. The throttle position sensors are mounted to the throttle body assembly and are not serviceable. The throttle position sensors provide a signal voltage that changes relative to throttle blade angle. The engine control module (ECM) supplies the throttle position sensors with a common 5 V reference circuit, a common low reference circuit, and 2 independent signal circuits.
The throttle position sensors have opposite functionality. Throttle position sensor 1 signal voltage decreases and throttle position sensor 2 signal voltage increases as the accelerator pedal increases to wide open throttle (WOT).
• | The ignition is ON or the engine is running. |
• | The engine is not operating in reduced power mode. |
• | The ignition voltage is greater than 6 V. |
• | The DTCs run continuously when the above condition is met. |
• | DTCs P0122 00, P0123 00, P0222 00, or P0223 00 are not set. |
• | The ignition is ON or the engine is running. |
• | The engine is not operating in reduced power mode. |
• | The ignition voltage is greater than 6 V. |
• | The DTCs run continuously when the above condition is met. |
The ECM detects that the throttle position sensor 1 voltage is less than 0.34 V for more than 0.4 s.
The ECM detects that the throttle position sensor 1 voltage is more than 4.62 V for more than 0.4 s.
The ECM detects that the throttle position sensor 2 voltage is less than 0.25 V for more than 0.4 s.
The ECM detects that the throttle position sensor 2 voltage is more than 4.66 V for more than 0.4 s.
The difference between the throttle position sensor 1 and throttle position sensor 2 exceeds a predetermined value for more than 2 s.
• | DTC P0122 00, P0123 00, P0222 00, P0223 00, and P2135 00 are Type A DTCs. |
• | The ECM commands the throttle actuator control (TAC) system to operate in a reduced engine power mode. |
• | The service vehicle soon indicator will illuminate. |
DTC P0122 00, P0123 00, P0222 00, P0223 00, and P2135 00 are Type A DTCs.
• | It may be necessary to disconnect the battery to clear DTC P2135 00. |
• | If a shared 5 V reference circuit is shorted to ground or shorted to a voltage, other 5 V reference circuits may be affected. |
• | A high resistance condition on the throttle actuator control circuits could cause a DTC to set. |
