Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement

EN-955-1 Fixing Pin from EN-955 Kit

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the bonnet.
  2. Remove the engine front cover with oil pump. Refer to Engine Front Cover with Oil Pump Replacement .
  3. Note: Removal of timing chain is necessary to get access to the engine front cover gasket.

  4. Remove the camshaft timing chain. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Replacement .

  6. Remove the EN-955-1 pin (1) from timing chain tensioner.
  7. Remove the 2 timing chain tensioner bolts (2).
  8. Remove the timing chain tensioner (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the timing chain tensioner (3).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 2 timing chain tensioner bolts (2) and tighten to 8 N·m (71 lb ft).
  4. Fix the timing chain tensioner with EN-955-1 pin (1)
  5. Install the engine front cover gasket and the camshaft timing chain. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Replacement .
  6. Install the engine front cover with oil pump. Refer to Engine Front Cover with Oil Pump Replacement .
  7. Close the bonnet.
