Upper Sump Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the oil level indicator.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
  4. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  5. Remove the lower sump. Refer to Lower Sump Replacement .
  6. Remove the exhaust front pipe. Refer to  Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDE,LLU,LXT,LXV,L2W,2H0 .
  7. Remove the front wheel drive intermediate shaft bracket. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Bracket Replacement .

  8. Disconnect the engine oil level indicator wiring harness plug (1) from the engine oil level indicator (2).

  9. Remove 3 upper sump retaining bolts (1).

  10. Remove 14 upper sump retaining bolts (2, 3).

    11. Note: Carefully detach from engine block using suitable tool. Do not damage sealing surfaces.

  11. Remove the sump (1).

Installation Procedure
  1. Clean the sealing surfaces.

    2. Note: The complete installation procedure of the camshaft guide should be done in 10 minutes.

    Note: Do not coat sealing compound on the sump bolt holes and threads.

  2. Apply sealing compound on sealant line (1).

  3. Install the lower oil sump (1).

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install 14 upper sump retaining bolts (2, 3) and tighten evenly to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install 3 upper sump retaining bolts (1) and tighten to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  6. Connect the engine oil level indicator wiring harness plug (1) to the engine oil level indicator (2).
  7. Install the front wheel drive intermediate shaft bracket. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Bracket Replacement .
  8. Install the exhaust front pipe. Refer to  Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDE,LLU,LXT,LXV,L2W,2H0 .
  9. Install the lower sump. Refer to Lower Sump Replacement .
  10. Install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
  11. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  12. Install the oil level indicator .
  13. Fill the engine with engine oil. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications .
