DTC B1019 00: System Configuration Error
Circuit/System Description
The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) runs continuous diagnostic tests on the restraints system. When the ignition is turned ON, the SDM will check to see if the correct components are installed for the vehicle configuration. If the SDM detects that there are too few or too many components on the system, DTC B1019 will set.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
• | The SDM was programmed with the wrong options for the vehicle. |
• | The wrong SDM was installed for the content of the vehicle. |
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
• | The SDM commands ON the AIR BAG warning lamp via serial data communications. |
• | The SDM disables all deployments. |
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
• | The correct SDM must be installed. |
• | The correct components must be installed. |
Diagnostic Aids
If the SDM has been replaced, make sure that it had the correct part number for this vehicle.

Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition ON, use the scan tool to request SIR DTCs. Verify that DTC B1019 is set as current.
⇒ | If DTC B1019 is history, clear codes and recheck. |
- Using the scan tool check the BCM that is programmed with the VIN. Verify that the BCM is programmed with the correct VIN number with the vehicle VIN plate.
- Using the scan tool perform the Setup SDM Part Number into BCM procedure. Refer to Control Module References for programming.
- Ignition ON, use the scan tool to clear the DTCs then cycle the ignition OFF then back ON. Verify that DTC B1019 is cleared.
