Rear Brake Rotor Replacement

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the tyre and wheel assembly. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the brake calliper bracket bolts (1).
Caution: Support the brake calliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the calliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the calliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
- Remove the brake calliper and bracket assembly and support with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent.
- If installing the original brake rotor, mark the relationship of the rotor to the wheel hub.
- Remove the brake rotor bolt (1) and the brake rotor.
- If the brake rotor is difficult to remove, remove the park brake shoe adjuster access plug on the face of the brake rotor to gain access to the park brake adjuster.
Loosen the park brake shoe adjuster.
- If the brake rotor is to be machined, inspect the brake rotor thickness measurement. Refer to Brake Disc Thickness Measurement .
Installation Procedure
- Using the J-42450-A Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit, thoroughly clean any rust or corrosion from the mating surface of the hub/axle flange.
- Using the J-41013 Rotor Resurfacing Kit , thoroughly clean any rust or corrosion from the mating surface of the rotor to the hub/axle flange.
Note: If installing the original brake rotor, align the rotor to the wheel hub as noted during removal.
- Install the brake disc.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the brake rotor bolt (1) and tighten to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Position the brake calliper and bracket assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the brake calliper bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
- If necessary, adjust the park brake. Refer to Handbrake Adjustment .
- Install the tyre and wheel assembly. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
