Preliminary Procedures

1. Open and support the rear tailgate assembly.
2. Remove the tailgate window garnish moulding. Refer to Tailgate Garnish Moulding Replacement .

Tailgate Upper Applique Nut (Qty: 4)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
4.5 N·m (40 lb in)

Button Nose Clip (Qty: 4)

Tip
Use a suitable trim-type release tool in order to detach the button nose clips from the tailgate outer panel.

Tailgate Upper Applique Assembly

Procedure

1. Release the button clips from the upper outer tailgate panel.
2. Close the rear tailgate in order to remove the spoiler assembly.
3. Disconnect the rear washer nozzle extension hose.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector for the rear high mounted brake lamp.
5. Ensure all the foam gaskets are in place on the button clips and retainer bolts prior to re-assembly of the spoiler onto the tailgate panel.

High Mount Stop Lamp Assembly

Procedure

Remove the high mount stop lamp. Refer to High Mount Brake lamp Replacement : Long Body  → Short Body and transfer.
