Battery Tray Replacement
Removal Procedure
Remove the battery from the battery tray. Refer to
Battery Replacement
.
Remove the engine control module (ECM). Refer to
Engine Control Module Replacement
:
LE5, LE9 or LAF
for the 2.4L engine,
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the 2.2L Diesel engine or
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the 3.0L engine.
Remove the engine fuse block upper cover.
Remove the engine fuse block retaining bolts.
Remove the battery positive terminal (3) from the fuse block.
Remove the engine fuse box from the lower cover.
Remove the engine fuse block lower cover retaining nuts and release the tabs on the fuse block.
Remove the glow plug controller mounting nut (1) at the expansion tank and set aside (if equipped).
Remove connectors inside the fuse block.
Disconnect the body harness connector to the engine harness connector.
Remove the fuse block mounting nuts (1).
Remove the air conditioner EVAP tube retainer bolt (1) at the battery tray.
Remove the battery tray retaining bolts and detach the battery tray from the fuse block shield assembly support bracket.
Remove the battery tray.
Installation Procedure
Install the battery tray.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the battery tray retaining bolts and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Install the fuse block shield assembly to the battery tray support bracket and welded studs. Tighten nuts (1) to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Route the body harness under the fuse block and connect it to the engine harness connector.
Install the fuse block connectors.
Install the engine fuse block and tighten the engine fuse block lower cover retaining bolts to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Install the engine fuse block retaining bolts and tighten to
3 N·m (27 lb in)
.
Install the engine fuse block upper cover.
Install the engine control module (ECM).Refer to
Engine Control Module Replacement
:
LE5, LE9 or LAF
for the 2.4L engine,
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the 2.2L Diesel engine or
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the 3.0L engine.
Install the glow plug controller to the expansion tank and tighten the bolt (1) to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
(if equipped).
Install the air conditioner EVAP tube retainer bolt (1) to the battery tray and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Install the battery. Refer to
Battery Replacement
.
