Theft Deterrent Alarm Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

    Note: The left-hand drive is shown. The right-hand drive is similar.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the ECM bracket. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement : LE5, LE9 or LAF for the 2.4L engine, Engine Control Module Replacement for the 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.2L and 3.6L engines, or Engine Control Module Replacement for the 2.0L (Diesel) engine.
  3. Remove the left headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement : Long Body  → Short Body .
  4. Remove the washer reservoir tube.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  6. Remove the nut (1) and the theft deterrent alarm under the battery tray.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the theft deterrent alarm with nut (1) under the battery tray.
  2. Connect the electrical connector.
  3. Install the washer reservoir tube.
  4. Install the left headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement : Long Body  → Short Body .
  5. Install the ECM bracket. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement : LE5, LE9 or LAF for the 2.4L engine, Engine Control Module Replacement for the 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.2L and 3.6L engines, or Engine Control Module Replacement for the 2.0L (Diesel) engine.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
