Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Do not allow smoking or the use of naked flames in the area where work on the fuel or EVAP system is taking place. Anytime work is being done on the fuel system, disconnect the negative battery cable, except for those tests where battery voltage is required.

  1. Remove the fuel filler cap.

  3. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe housing to fuel tank filler pipe bolts (1).
  4. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  5. Remove the left rear wheel and tyre. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  6. Remove the left rear wheelhouse liner panel. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement .

  8. Remove the fuel filler pipe protector nuts (1) and protector (2).

  10. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe bracket bolts (1) and remove the bracket (2).

  12. Loosen the fuel tank filler hose clamp (1) and the fuel filler vent hose clamp (2), and disconnect the hoses from the fuel tank.
  13. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe and vent assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel tank filler pipe and vent assembly to the vehicle.

  3. Reconnect the fuel tank filler pipe (1) and the fuel filler vent hose (2) to the fuel tank.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the fuel tank filler pipe bracket bolts (1) and bracket (2). Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  7. Install the fuel filler pipe protector (2) and nuts (1). Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  9. Install the fuel tank fill pipe housing to fuel tank fill pipe bolts (1) and tighten to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
  10. Install the left rear wheelhouse liner panel. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement .
  11. Install the left rear wheel and tyre. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  12. Install the fuel fill cap.
