Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2. Remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
3. Place a drain pan under the sump drain plug.



4. Remove the sump drain plug (1), and allow the oil to drain completely.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

5. Install the oil sump drain plug and tighten to 14 N·m (124 lb in).
6. Install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
7. Lower the vehicle.



8. Remove the oil filter cap (1), O-ring and filter element (2). Allow the oil to drain completely.

1. Lubricate the NEW oil filter (2) with clean engine oil.
2. Install the O-ring on the filter cap.
3. Install the oil filter element (2) and the oil filter cap (1).
4. Tighten the oil filter cap (1) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Refill the engine oil. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities .
7. Start the engine and inspect for leaks.
