Circuit/System Description

The inclination sensor detects changes in the angle of the vehicle while parked. B+ is supplied to the inclination sensor at all times and the body control module (BCM) arms the sensor using the armed signal circuit. If a change greater than 3 degrees for a 7 second period is detected, auxiliary body control module (XBCM) is informed via the inclination sensor signal circuit and the content theft alarm is sounded. The sensor recalibrates itself each time the vehicle is parked, which allows it to account for parking on steep grades without unintentional activation.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inclination sensor.
  2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  3. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the BCM.
  5. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the signal circuit terminal 15 and ground.
  6. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  7. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 15 and ground.
  8. If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  9. Test for less than 2 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 15 at the BCM and the signal circuit terminal 4 at the inclination sensor.
  10. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  11. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the XBCM.
  12. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the signal circuit terminal B10 and ground.
  13. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  14. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal B10 and ground.
  15. If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  16. Test for less than 2 Ω between the signal circuit terminal B10 at the XBCM and the signal circuit terminal 3 at the inclination sensor.
  17. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  18. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the inclination sensor.
