Manual Transmission Shift Lever Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement

  2. Remove the gear shift lever and selector lever cable (2) from transmission control housing (3).
  3. Remove the shift lever and selector lever cable from shift lever and selector lever cable bracket (1) by pushing back locking rings.
  4. Remove the front floor console extension panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement : Short Body  → Long Body .

  5. Move the floor carpet in order to get access to the gear shift lever and selector lever cable grommet (1).
  6. Remove the shift lever and selector lever cable grommet nuts (2).
  7. Remove the shift lever and selector lever cable from bulkhead.

  8. Unlock shift lever and selector lever cable adjust locks (2).
  9. Clip the shift lever and selector lever cable retainers (1) out of transmission control lever housing
  10. Remove the shift lever and selector lever cable assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Position the shift lever and selector lever cable assembly in the vehicle.

    Note: Do not lock yet.

  2. Slide the shift lever and selector lever cable into shift lever and selector lever cable adjust locks (2).
  3. Push the shift lever and selector lever cable retainers (1) into transmission control lever housing.
  4. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable to inside the vehicle.

    Note: Install the guide with the white marking upwards to the bulkhead. Do not cross the cables.

  5. Move the floor carpet in order to get access to the shaft lever and selector lever cable grommet (1).
  6. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable grommet nuts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
  7. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable (3) to bulkhead.
  8. Check for correct fit.

  9. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable (2) to shift lever and selector lever cable bracket (1).
  10. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable to transmission control housing (3).
  11. Adjust the shift lever and selector lever cable. Refer to Manual Transmission Shift Lever Cable Adjustment .
  12. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .
  13. Install the front floor console extension panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement : Short Body  → Long Body .
