Radiator Replacement — 1.6L LDE, LXT, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, and LUW

1. Open the bonnet.
2. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
3. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
4. Remove the radiator grille reinforcement support. Refer to Radiator Grille Reinforcement Support Replacement
5. Remove the air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement : 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, and LUW
6. Remove the bonnet primary and secondary catches. Refer to Bonnet Primary and Secondary Catch Replacement
7. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling
8. Remove the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement



9. Loosen the clip (2).
10. Remove the radiator surge tank outlet hose (1) from the adapter (3).



11. Loosen the radiator outlet hose clamp (5).
12. Remove the radiator outlet hose (3) from the radiator outlet pipe (4).



13. Loosen the radiator inlet hose clamp (2).
14. Remove the radiator inlet hose (3) from the radiator (1).
15. For vehicle with automatic transmission:

•	Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Replacement

•	Remove the transmission fluid cooler outlet pipe from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 2.0L Diesel LLW

•	Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet pipe from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 2.0L Diesel LLW

Note: Do not remove radiator fan.

16. Unclip the radiator fan from the radiator. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDE,LXT,LXV,L2W,2H0-MT → 1.4L LUH, LUJ - M32-6 MZ4 → LDE, LLU, LUJ, LUW, LXV, LXT, L2W, 2H0-AT → 2.0L Diesel LLW
17. Unclip the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.




Note: Do not remove the condenser. Lift the condenser up and reposition as required.

18. Unclip the condenser (1) from the radiator.
19. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor. Refer to Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement : Thermostat → Radiator



20. Remove the 2 radiator bolts (1).
21. Remove the radiator upper bracket (2).
22. Remove the radiator upper insulator (3).
23. Remove the radiator (4).

1. Install the engine coolant temperature sensor. Refer to Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement : Thermostat → Radiator



2. Install the radiator (4).
3. Install radiator upper insulator (3).
4. Install the radiator upper bracket (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

5. Install the 2 radiator bolts (1) and tighten to 22 N·m (17 lb ft).



6. Clip the condenser (1) to the radiator.
7. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor. Refer to Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement : Thermostat → Radiator
8. Clip the radiator fan to the radiator. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDE,LXT,LXV,L2W,2H0-MT → 1.4L LUH, LUJ - M32-6 MZ4 → LDE, LLU, LUJ, LUW, LXV, LXT, L2W, 2H0-AT → 2.0L Diesel LLW
9. Clip the radiator outlet hose into the radiator.
10. For vehicle with automatic transmission:

•	Fill the transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Replacement

•	Install the transmission fluid cooler outlet pipe to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 2.0L Diesel LLW

•	Install the transmission fluid cooler inlet pipe to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → 2.0L Diesel LLW




11. Install the radiator inlet hose (3) to the radiator (1).
12. Install the radiator inlet hose clamp (2).



13. Install the radiator surge tank outlet hose (1).
14. Fasten the hose clamp (2).



15. Install the radiator outlet hose (3) to the radiator outlet pipe (4).
16. Install the radiator outlet hose clamp (5).
17. Install the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement
18. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling
19. Install the bonnet primary and secondary catches. Refer to Bonnet Primary and Secondary Catch Replacement
20. Install the air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement : 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, and LUW
21. Install the radiator grille reinforcement support. Refer to Radiator Grille Reinforcement Support Replacement
22. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
23. Connect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
24. Close the bonnet.
