Engine Coolant Fan Replacement - LDE, LLU, LUJ, LUW, LXV, LXT, L2W, 2H0-AT

Removal Procedure
  1. Disconnect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  4. Remove the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  5. Remove the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  6. Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler pipe. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement .

  7. Disconnect the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness connector (1) and remove the ground cable nut.
  8. Remove the wiring harness (3). Cut the 4 clips.

  9. Unclip the engine coolant fan shroud (1) from the four mounting points.
  10. Remove the engine coolant fan shroud (1).

  11. Remove the engine coolant fan resistor (1) by unclipping the retainer clip (2).
  12. Unclip the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness (arrows) from the shroud.
  13. Remove the 3 engine coolant fan engine bolts (3) from the engine coolant fan.
  14. Remove the engine coolant fan.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the engine coolant fan.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the 3 engine coolant fan engine bolts (3) to the engine coolant fan and tighten.
  3. Clip in the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness (arrows) to the shroud.
  4. Install the engine coolant fan resistor (1) by clipping the retainer clip (2).

  5. Install the engine coolant fan shroud (1).
  6. Clip in the engine coolant fan shroud (1) to the four mounting points.

  7. Connect the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness connector (1).
  8. Install the wiring harness (3). Install 4 NEW clips.
  9. Install the ground cable and the ground cable nut and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  10. Install the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler pipe. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement
  11. Install the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  12. Install the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : 2.0L Diesel LNP → LDD, LUH, and LUJ → 1.6L LXT,L2W → 2.0L Diesel LLW → LDE, LLU, LXV, 2H0, and LUW .
  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  14. Connect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
