Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement - LHD
Removal Procedure
Remove the driver knee bolster reinforcement. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
:
Long Body
→
Short Body
.
Remove the accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to
Accelerator Pedal with Position Sensor Assembly Replacement
:
LE5 or LE9
(2.4L), or
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement
(3.0L), or
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement
(2.0L, 2.2L Diesel).
Remove the brake lamp switch. Refer to
Stop Lamp Switch Replacement
.
Remove the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).
Disconnect the brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal pivot pin.
Remove the brake pedal bracket bolt (1).
Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
:
Long Body
→
Short Body
.
Remove the vacuum brake booster nuts (1) and the brake pedal assembly.
Installation Procedure
Install the brake pedal assembly.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the vacuum brake booster nuts (1) and tighten to
22 N·m (16 lb ft)
.
Install the instrument panel assembly. Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
:
Long Body
→
Short Body
.
Install the brake pedal bracket bolt (1) and tighten to
22 N·m (16 lb ft)
.
Connect the brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal pivot pin.
Install the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).
Ensure the pushrod retainer is properly installed by rotating the retainer 360 degrees.
Install the accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to
Accelerator Pedal with Position Sensor Assembly Replacement
:
LE5 or LE9
(2.4L), or
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement
(3.0L), or
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement
(2.0L, 2.2L Diesel).
Install the brake lamp switch. Refer to
Stop Lamp Switch Replacement
.
Install the driver knee bolster reinforcement. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
